Book Review by Zac Adkins

Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is a great read. It’s funny at times, sad at times, and readers won’t want to put it down the whole time they are reading it. Although it is a great story, it may not be suitable for younger children due to some of the language throughout the book.

The book tells about two friends during the time of the Great Depression.  George Milton and Lennie Small are from Soledad in the Salinas Valley in California. George is small, bossy, smart, and grouchy while Lennie is big, and kind-hearted, and mentally impaired. Lennie causes George a lot of anguish by talking too much and also causing them to lose their jobs. They have many experiences together as they travel, including their new job on a ranch.

Even though the two men are not the biggest fans of their new job, they push through. They do whatever it takes to make their money because they have a plan. Once they make enough money, they are going to buy their own home and live off of the land. That is their dream, and they are willing to do whatever it takes to fulfill it.  To find out whether or not George and Lennie achieve their version of the American dream, pick up a copy of Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.

Song Review by Tiffany Evans

Kindest Regards by Witt Lowry

Kindest regards by Witt Lowry is a very emotional song. It’s about pain and heartbreak. It’s about the reality of life, and he helps you think everything is gonna be okay. Witt talks deeply about how he’s always felt like he’s not worth it, and how he thinks his music isn’t good enough. I like this song particularly because of the way he pours his heart out. It’s the kind of rap song that actually means something. He puts so much passion into it. My favorite lyric is “Give you my heart and what’s left of it now.” It personally means a lot to me. Witt Lowry just has a way of making the song so good. It’s a perfect song to listen to when you’re feeling down and emotional.
