The Lady Grizzlies’ 2019 season opener game occurred at home against Clay County on December 4, where they won with a score of 41-38. On December 6, they traveled to Wyoming East and faced a tough loss of 27-71. The girls also traveled to Midland Trail and lost to the Lady Patriots with a score of 49-74. In the IOGA tournament, the Lady Grizzlies played Webster County and lost 32-45 on December 16. On December 18, they won against Roane County with a score of 49-42.
“We have good chemistry; the younger girls are just getting warmed up because they are timid at times,” explained senior Taylor Brown. “We tensed up and just had too many turnovers. I feel good about future games because once we develop our strengths and strategies, we will be a good contender for our section.”
The boys’ season opener game was on December 11 at Oak Hill, where they had a hard-fought loss of 56-77. Their next few upcoming games occur at the IOGA tournament. They played Braxton first and lost 84-72 on December 17. Next, they play Calhoun on the 19 and the other games in the tournament will be announced as it goes on.
