The Grizzlies competed in the state cross country meet at Cabell Midland High School on November 2, 2019. The boys finished in 5th place out of twenty-two teams in AA. Ethan Board placed 30th out of 170 runners; he also had the best time and got the highest place out of all the runners at NCHS in this event. “I’m really proud of my team for placing as well as we did. I also feel great about my outcome in the meet, but with that being said, I’m setting my goals higher for next year, as I work hard on the off-season to hopefully place even higher and make my personal record even better,” stated Ethan Board.
Right behind him was senior Preston Prather, who placed 41st and was also the top runner this year at NCHS. The runners following were Rylee Nicholas placing 70th, Brad Bostic placing 86th, Alex Irvin in 106th, Isaac Coffman in 107th, and Levi Brake placing 113th.
The two girls on the team also did an outstanding job at the meet! Katy Walkup finished in 27th place and Courtney Prather finished 70th out of 133 runners.
Way to go Grizzlies!
