The Nicholas County High School band is a big part of fall sports. They attend football games on Fridays and competitions on Saturdays. The Marching Grizzlies are directed by Roger Akers and Assistant Brian Burge. Drum Major Alex Rose leads the band on the field. Roger Akers said his favorite part about directing is “working with the members.”
Drum Major Alex Rose said, “The band is a lot smaller than past years, but we are making the most of it.” At Ripley, the band placed in multiple categories: 1st place Outstanding Show Design, 1st place Overall Majorettes, 1st place Color Guard, 1st place Drum Major-Alex Rose, 2nd place Twirler-Azreah Groves, 3rd place Band, 4th place Percussion, and 2nd Runner-up to Grand Champions. All the musicians feel pretty confident in their show this season.
